39 weeks tomorrow

I will be 39 weeks tomorrow and I am getting really excited about Amelia's arrival.  The last doctors appointment I went to I was 2 cm dilated and 50-60% effaced.  Up to this point I have a total weight gain of 20lbs.  Which is still under the weight limit the doc. gave me!  I was a little concerned that  I had not felt the baby move as much that morning so they did an ultrasound to just make sure everything was ok.  Amelia was in fact moving like crazy but I was just unable to feel it.  She was camera shy this time though she would not take her arms away from her face for us to see.

The doctor asked me if we had discussed induction yet... to which I replied nope not yet! (some of you may be thinking why induce at 39 weeks and not wait it out?  I have gestational diabetes an the doc and I do not want to take chances that the baby will be too big to deliver with out a c-section.)  He then proceeded to ask me what day I would like to have her!!!!  AAAAHHHHH!  How do you pick a date that you have waited so long for?  He helped me pick the date by calling the hospital to see how busy they were.  So, we came to the conclusion that Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 7:30 pm I will go to the hospital to be admitted and to start the induction process.  It sounds like Wednesday they will start the pitocin and then it is just a waiting game from there.

I am very excited to meet my baby girl but I have to admit that I am a little scared of labor and delivery. Don't get me wrong I plan to get the "drugs" but I am still nervous.  People love to fill your head with all the horror stories.

This weekend Randy and I had our "nesting" phase I guess you could say.  We cleaned the entire house from top to bottom with some help from my mom and sister of course.... we never would have finished that project with out them.

Amelia's room is  ready for her arrival and all because we have great family and friends.  The baby shower was AMAZING!  Even with the threat of a hurricane on the way there were still lots of people in attendance and just as many gifts if not more.  We feel so loved and we are so grateful for everything we received.

Once our sweet baby girl is here I will make sure to post pictures from the proud parents!

Third Trimester

I am well into my third trimester now and still enjoying this pregnancy.

Since my last post, I  found out that I do have gestational diabetes.  We tried to get it under control by just changing my diet but, that did not work so much.  I was put on a pill call Glyburide and with some slight adjustments we have been able to get my blood sugar under control.  I was a little surprised that I got gestational diabetes with the little weight gain I have had.

I am 32 weeks now and have gained 14 pounds.  My doctor only wanted me to gain a total of 25 pounds so I guess I am on the right track.  I know that in the last few weeks I will put on more and more weight as baby Amelia starts really packing on the pounds.

Randy and I have completed some birthing classes and have a few more to go.  I feel like we knew a lot of the information already but every class we took a little more knowledge home.  Randy got to learn how to swaddle the baby and to change a diaper.  Randy swaddling the baby is quite comical.  His hands are so big and the baby doll was  so small that it looked like he was smashing the baby.  I would recommend for everyone to take the child birth classes that are offered at the hospitals and best of all many of the classes are FREE!

Yesterday I went to Immaculate Conception School's nursery orientation.  The nursery is really cute and there is a ton of staff to watch over the babies.  They really seem to work with the parents schedule as well as maintaining their own schedule.  I thought it was really cute that they had birthday balloons on the wall and had included Amelia with her due date.  They also had a little cubby set up for her already.  She will not even be there until January.

The baby shower will be this month and I am looking forward to seeing all my family and friends!

Our nursery is really coming together and I will be excited when it is complete.  We have an elephant theme forming.  I had my dad cut out some wood elephants to mount letters on.  My mom and I painted the elephants a taupe color and the letters are a light pink.  The plan is to hang them on the wall above her bed so it looks like elephants on parade.  I have a few more things I need to order for the room before I am really happy with it but I guess as long as it is done before she gets here we are good.  I will start posting pictures soon of her little room.

While we are talking about pictures my sister took a few maternity pictures for me with my new camera.  Most of the pictures came out really well and we were able to use some in the nursery.  I think now that I am further along we may do some more pics and see how they come out.

25 weeks and counting...

Tomorrow I will be 25 weeks and my baby girl is moving around like crazy. Her kicks are getting stronger and can be noticed by others. I have my glucose test bright and early tomorrow morning. I am getting a little nervous about, I hear so many different things about this test. I hope it goes fast and I pass the first time! Right after that appointment I have another appointment with my OB. I have so much to talk to him about... I have had a few people ask me about my birth plan so I plan to speak to him about that.
This last weekend we went to the beach in Pensacola and the further we got from home the more anxious I got. I had randy pull over around mobile and totally freaked out. After about 15 minuets of deep breaths and a little crying I calmed down and we were able to make it to the beach. I figure this little panic attack happened because it was the first time I was a considerable distance from my doctor. I felt like I was crazy for getting so upset but I guess that is what these hormones will do to you.
I have also been thinking about doing a 4d ultrasound. I have had quite a few ultrasounds between the fertility institute, my OB, and my residents at work. I think it may be really neat to see what she looks like but I also think it would be a great surprise to wait to see what she looks like... I guess I am just going to have weigh out my options.
I must say that I really am enjoying this pregnancy so far it has been pretty easy for me. I hope the rest of the pregnancy and labor go this well.

Half way there and loving it!

These last few months have been such a whirl wind of happiness and amazement!  Since my last post we found out we are having a baby girl, Amelia Isabel Walker!  Randy was a little freaked out at first, he said "I don't know the first thing about raising a GIRL!" with in a day he went full circle from what to do with a girl to over protective daddy!  Amelia seems to be a thumb sucker... I now have two pictures of her sucking her thumb!

We have started making changes to the house which can be pretty overwhelming. This last weekend we changed the floors in the living room and hallway to laminate,  I started cleaning out the nursery, we got the bedding in, I picked the wall color, and the furniture should be here with in the week.  I am excited to see what it is all going to look like together.  Check out the new floors!

Now that I am 20 weeks I will be going to register... I know from the wedding registry that I get pretty flustered with all the choices so  I can only imagine what kind of anxiety ridden experience this will be.  Luckily I will have my friend Jessica and my mom there to help me stay on track.  This is my first real baby bump pic.  I am sure there will be more to come.

On a non-baby note Friday was my 30th birthday and it was quite possibly one of the best birthday's ever. Thursday my co-workers decorated the halls and my office for the big 3-0 and then had a little celebration for me.

Then, Randy took me to dinner on Friday and then we went to my parents house for cake.... or so I thought.  My sister planned an 80's surprise party for me and boy did she nail it!  The table center pieces were my old cabbage patch dolls with birth certificates, there was a splatter painted banner, 80's candy, and best of all she hung a large white sheet and projected Nintendo for all to play Super Mario Brothers.  My sister had gone shopping for me so as soon as I arrived she made me go change... Jessica and I look ridiculous but we had a great time!  My brother in law dressed as one of the 610 stompers  but I did not get a pic of that :(

Then Saturday morning was off to the Jewelry show.  This show was on the smaller side so I did not buy much.  My mom purchased one of Amelia's first outfits and her first hair bows.... it is too cute.

Getting Nervous

So, I am getting a little nervous about IUI tomorrow.  This round was a little more intense.  I have had to do more rounds of injections with higher dosages.  All in all, I feel the same so no real side effects.

I know we have not been doing the fertility treatments very long but this month we definitely experienced a small portion of what it would be like if we had to pay for all of this.  I had three different times I had to pay for the injections this time and it was a huge eye opener.  I spent something like $600.00 in less than a week on meds.  How crazy is that?!?  I mean that does not include the doctor visits or the meds that insurance covered.  I cant imagine having the stress of figuring out how to pay for treatments and going through them.

After tomorrows IUI it will be back to the dreaded 2 week wait.   I am so nervous and really hope that this round is the one that works.  Please keep us in your prayers.  We really appreciate all the support from everyone.
